Thanks for suggesting that post of yours! I especially loved when you wrote "each encounter is unique and will never be recreated. With this view we can bring greater presence, intention and gratitude to each encounter we have. Not having much of something is often an easy way to appreciate it."
I'll never see my daughter grow her day today and I need to be present for her and with her.
It also helped me to feel less guilty for not taking so many pictures. While I was on my year of maternity leave, I'd take so many pictures, but being back at work, I take a lot less, and it's ok! :)
Also, I usually don't take my breaks at work so I can come back early but, not only is it exhausting me, it's time I could take to look at social media without taking time away from my daughter. This post really helped me. Thank you! :)

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your comment. I wrote my master's thesis on photography and its relationship with memory and self-identity, it's a fascinating and complex area of study. I haven't written a blog post about it, but I'll take that down as a note and try to write about it in a less academic way. Certainly, photography and self-identity are salient, more than ever, these days, and an area of thinking I should come back to.

Best wishes, and thanks for reading the blog, Danielle

Hi, this is so interesting, I'd love to hear more about your thoughts relating to photography and how it affects memory or self identity, that sounds fascinating. Have you written another post about this I can read anywhere?

Dear Miya, I'm sorry I missed getting back to you sooner. But, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comment. You are definitely not alone, but I do hope that there will be more and more parents like us, unplugging so that we can be present with our children. xo

Thanks Kizzy! Well I don't think I keep on top of it, but hopefully it was clear from the post that staying on top of it isn't really necessary.
