Hello! My name is Danielle Chassin and my day job is as a Policy Strategist for the Canadian Government. But my passions are family, art, and adventuring in the great outdoors. I love doing simple things with my children like exploring the city on foot on our “urban adventures,” collecting natural toys and treasures, discovering street art, and playing among the trees and plants we find on hidden paths and in abandoned lots, this is what I like to call minimalist fun.
Art, aesthetics and visual communication have always been a big part of my life. Until I began my current job, I always had an outlet for personal expression, whether through dance or visual art or creative writing. This blog is my creative outlet where I try to share visually our family’s way of life, which could be described as: creative, intentional, adventurous, connected, and slow. My moniker hippie in disguise has a lot to do with my professional work, where my own (left wing, hippie) opinions and creativity cannot factor into my work. Through my Instagram gallery, which I have used for about two years as a micro-blog of the things I do with my children, I have connected with and shared ideas with people around the world, I want to extend those connections and grow them through a larger space with this blog.
I am on the editorial team at Enfants Terribles Magazine, a magazine focused on children’s fashion, playfulness, and creativity. I am a writer and ambassador for the Global Guardian Project, an educational platform for children, families and educators to learn how to be stewards of the planet.
In 2016, I made the decision to include affiliate links in some of my posts, where I will earn a small commission for purchases made directly from my link. I will mostly work with Amazon in doing this, but will continue to promote the same products I always have, and when they are available through Amazon I will link to them. This site is a labour of love, but also a lot of work, being part of affiliate programs I am provided a small means to earn money and support the work I do here.
Thank you for your interest in me and my family, I would love to hear your thoughts about the blog or ideas for a collaboration.
